We have all heard the expression “The straw that broke the camels back”
Well, I had been carrying a barn full of straw on my back for months and this day was the day it all got too much.
The bank had reversed a decision to provide me with a second mortgage on my house and that meant I had about 30 days, before the “wheels fell off” my little online enterprise and we would no longer be able to meet the bills.
It was the end of the road and I knew it.
All of the pressure of providing for a young growing family suddenly hit me and for the first time in my life I felt a total failure, and the tears just wouldn’t stop.
So I lay there sobbing like a baby.
It nearly broke my wife’s heart to see me in that state, and honestly I’m welling up now, as I write this. But she wouldn’t allow me to wallow in this state for any longer.
She reminded me that we don’t take things lying down.
We fight, and we fight until there is nothing left to fight for. She’s a bit like Mel Gibson in Braveheart when she needs to be.
But it was exactly what I needed.
I got up, got drunk (not recommended by the way) and the next day, after the hangover cleared, I set to work on a new plan.
It’s funny how the universe presents you with exactly what you need, even if you don’t know it at the time. It was only a matter of days after this “crying incident” that during a meeting an off the cuff comment changed the trajectory of my life.
Within 3 weeks we had met our expenses and no longer required the additional loan.
Within 3 months all of our debts were paid back.
Within 3 years I purchased the house of my dreams in cash.
All from a refusal to give up (thanks to my wife) and a stupid comment from a person whose name I don’t even remember!
Life’s twists and turns certainly are strange sometimes!
I hope this story, provides you with the inspiration to never give up and continually strive for your goals.
To your successful online adventure.
